Dr. Maria P. Doumi is an Associate Professor in the field of “Business Operations and Decision Making in Tourism” and Head of the Department of Tourism Economics and Management. She has graduated of the Department of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean and holds a PhD in Economic and Regional Analysis from the same Department. She has many years of teaching experience, in the Department of Tourism Economics and Management (2017-present), in the Departments of Business Administration (2000-2022), Shipping and Business Services (2008-present), in the Interdepartmental Master’s Program “Planning, Management and Policy of of Tourism” (1998-present) and in the Postgraduate Study Program “Shipping, Transport & International Trade” (2018-present) of the University of the Aegean. She also teaches at the Master’s Program “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Tourism” (2016-present) and the Master’s Program “New Technologies in Shipping and Transport” (2018-present) of the University of West Attica. She has taught as a faculty member of the Hellenic Open University in the Undergraduate Study Program, “Tourism Management”, in the Postgraduate Study Program “Tourism Business Management”, “Tourism Sector” [ΔΤΕ51], and “Tourism Business Management” [ΔΤΕ60] and has also taught as a Research Associate at the TEI of Chalkida (2005-2007) and supervising Professor of Diploma Theses in the Graduate Program of the University of Neapolis, Paphos. She has taught in programs of EKDDA, IDEKE, EEDE, ELGO and GSEVEE. Her research interests include operations management, applications of quantitative methods in regional and economic development, tourism and decision-making for sustainable development of a region. She is the Director of the Sustainable and Resilient Regional and Tourism Development Laboratory (SuReLab) of the Department of Tourism Economics and Management of the University of the Aegean. She has multi-dimensional research experience as Deputy Scientific Manager of the Program “S.W.A.N. a digital Solid Waste reuse plAtform for BalkaN” and as a member of research groups of programs of the University of the Aegean. He is also a member of four research laboratories: Laboratory of Tourism Research and Studies (ETEM), Laboratory of Quantitative Methods (QmLaB), IRIS Research Laboratory and Laboratory of Technology and Innovation Management (EDiTeK) of the University of the Aegean. She is a reviewer of scientific articles and supervisor of a number of graduate and diploma theses of students of the aforementioned departments. Her research work has been published in international academic journals and has been presented at international scientific conferences.
